About Daily Quotes

Most quote sites give you a line of text and a name. We think that’s the least interesting part of a quote — the real question is always who said it, to whom, in what world, and what happened to it since.

Daily Quotes is a living archive built around that question. Every quote here is traced back through its author, its context, and — where the record allows it — the difference between what was actually said and what got repeated. Misattributed lines get flagged as misattributed. Quotes get connected to other quotes that echo, answer, or contradict them.

We started with a base of over a million quotes drawn from public archives, de-duplicated and organized into more than a thousand topics. We’re working through it — adding real biographical and historical context, not filler — a little at a time.

If you find a quote that’s wrongly attributed, missing real context, or just broken, tell us.
